During the 2020 winter spent in Queenstown, New Zealand we were fortunate to be able to take long walks several times a week. Our favorite was anywhere along the shores of Lake Wakatipu. We started noticing after the first few walks that we were seeing Kererū every time we walked near the lake. This was an odd but very welcome gift, as in our twenty years of visiting Queenstown, New Zealand we very rarely spied even one. We reckon the increase in sightings is do to the lack of people in Queenstown and are very grateful to be there to see them.
